Have you heard about the plant ‘Devadaru’? May be you might know it if I tell you it’s scientific name. That is,Cedrus deodara.

The Deodar has many medicinal properties. The wood, resin and bark have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Heartwood has diaphoretic and diuretic properties. Wood has also been used to treat fever, hemorrhoids, pulmonary and urinary disorders, insomnia, rheumatism, and diabetes.

We are making our environment dirty ,but still our God, mother nature has gifted us with devadaru,which is really a life saver by helping to clean our environment.

Deodar cedar (Cedrus deodara) is among the most magnificent trees in the world. It is found growing in the western Himalayas at elevations between 5,000 and 10,000 feet and may live for 1,000 years

It can be applied to the joints to manage problems such as inflammation and pain related to arthritis due to its anti-inflammatory property. Devadaru oil can also be applied on wounds to prevent infections and speed up wound healing due to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory property.

Don’t miss the chance to smell devadaru. It has a wonderful and divine odour.

Its powder or paste or Devadaru oil is applied externally for the said conditions. Its powder or Kashayam prepared by adding a tablespoon of Devadaru heartwood to two cups of water, boiled and reduced to half a cup and filtered, administered in lukewarm condition.
